Chordbot App Reviews

Excellent and Very Useful

This is one of those apps you realize you’ll want to keep using from the moment you open it. Uncluttered and not overloaded with features that get in the way of building a chord progression. It’s an excellent song-writing idea-tester and practice tool. The sections area lets you arrange your song with various iterations of verse, chorus, bridge, etc. The sounds are good enough for practice.

Brilliant

This is an amazing app. You can select chords from a large range of chord types (some pretty exotic (Min7(#11) or 6/9 anybody?), voicings (inversions, slash chords), time values; set tempo; arrange them into sections and sections into complete songs; hear them with various instrument combinations and styles; transpose; export as audio or MIDI; and other things. I bought this as a way to play around with chords, but now I actually rough out songs on it, import the MIDI files into Logic, and build whole recordings around it. It’s really an amazing Swiss amy knife of song creation. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Disappointing

Very disappointing upgrade. I had hoped for something more, considering that other apps of this type are doing much, much more.

Great app

I use it everyday for putting together backing tracks for my solo act. Has all the chords I use for jazz and blues backing. Great for exchange of ideas with my band too. Im able to put together grooves in less than 15 minutes. Great app. Look forward to improvements like addition of eighth notes.

helpful app

I find this to be an essential app, but I had an earlier version and I liked that one much better. I wish the comping styles were broken down into sections and guitar/piano, to make it easier to find the right style. Anyway I dont know of any other app that does what this app does, but I still wish it cost less.

Best iOS songwriters scratchpad

Very easy to throw together scratch arrangements of songs in many styles. Great tool for saving my ideas, but the Random song generator also help me generate new ideas what Im stuck. This wont be your recording platform, but its a great way to play with ideas.

Best, easiest, and fastest way to make backing tracks

I needed an easy way to make modal backing tracks in all keys because it would have taken forever to make them myself. This app has many options and sounds good. You also have the ability to have a bass note of your choosing under the chord which is essential when creating modal jam tracks. Im very please to have found this app.

Perfect

For someone like me that has a lot of music in my head but no ability to play the piano.

Love The Concept

The power of lazy creativity in this app is mind blowing, but to catch up with the times direct MIDI out, not just export, should be an added feature for this program. Will give it seven stars then.

Crashes on iOS 8.3

I just bought it and it always crashes. It doesnt work at all on my iPhone iOS 8.3. I dont even have any chance to check this app out. I thought its very helpful cause I saw some instructional videos on YouTube.

App crashes need update

Great Songwriter Companion

Great app to work out chord progressions and changes. Fantastic for writing songs on the work commute and lunch breaks. Keep this little jewel alive, please. First music app I ever bought and still one of my main go to apps.

Best app Ive ever purchased

This app is an amazing tool for creativity. As a musician I have dropped a decent amount of money on related apps but this has been my number 1 Pros: 1. Versatile: the chord selection is awesome (major, minor, 7th, aug, sus, dim, +many more) 2. You can export files 3. Random chord generator for those moments of "writers block" Cons: 1. Needs an "undo" button" (very easy to accidentally edit all sections of your song when you meant to only edit 1) 2. Guitar sounds are a bit weak, I never use them, but there are plenty of other sounds o work with so no biggie. Despite those I still rate this app 5 stars, this has been a big tool for inspiration. Tip: save often! Save often! Save often! And wouldnt hurt to save 2 files of the same song.

Arrangement Bliss

Dude, you can Angel two acoustic guitars on separate tracks and mix all these picking patterns...then you got so many interval and inversion choices that it sounds better than what a straight 12 string would do...ingenious! You may even use these instruments in your production. Trust me, if youre a song writer and dont have this app, its the next one to blow you away!
